"Checking In" a Quilt:

If you know the design pattern you wish to have quilted as well as the thread you may drop your
quilt off without an appointment.

Otherwise, we need you to make an appointment with Melanie so that she can discuss your
options with you and that you are involved in the design process of your quilt.  If you need to
know the cost or have any questions you need answered, we ask that you make an appointment
to check your quilt in.

** ALL quilts accepted and placed in line for quilting must be discussed with Melanie or Alisa.

** Call ahead (334) 445-3521 to make an appointment, please don't assume Melanie will be in.
All appointments will be made for after 5:00PM.
***** Batting on a roll at $9.99 per yard is available now! *****
Quilt Preparation

  • Have BACKING cut at least 10 inches larger than your quilt top.
  • You must add filler strips to extend BACKING and if not large enough as per above.  Feel
free to use one of our machines if necessary.
  • Lay your quilt out on a flat surface and verify that the quilt (especially the borders) lay flat.
    (See fullness disclaimer)
  • Have quilt top trimmed to final finished size.  We will not "cut-down" a quilt top.
  • Remove ALL excess loose threads.
  • Remove ALL pins, buttons and/or other embellishments.
  • Have quilt top and backing fabric completely pressed, making sure ALL seams are pressed
    flat.
  • Selvage edge of fabric should be removed from seams on backing.  The selvage edge will
shrink differently when laundered causing later puckering at the seam line.
  • Use one safety pin to mark the top of the quilt top.
  • Verify that all seams are complete and that no open seams and/or holes are present.
  • Have ALL exteriors seam endings back_stitched to prevent them from pulling open.  This
also applies to the backing fabric if it has been pieced.
  • Your quilt top must be completed.  The quilt top and the backing must meet all the above
preparations BEFORE it will be assigned a place in our list.
